This story reminds me a a movie from the 1950s. Jake's three children take active roles in the book, they are not props, the storyline centres around Jake being a package deal. Josie has another man kiss her but it was one sided.īreadcrumbs dropped for future books in series with Mickey and Coert. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. It was all part of her reserved cultured lifestyle. I think the authors time in England has influenced her writing of this character, being from the UK Josie didn't bother me. Josie stays for a time at Lavender house, her grandmother's house after her grandmother dies. Josie who has never been married, has an ice persona and travels the world with her famous boss photographer, Henry. It's all about family and being there for each other. It's an unusual premise at the start but KA makes it work. This story draws you in and keeps you captivated.Ī beautiful adult romance that will leave you craving for more of Kristen Ashley's gift for words. The way she expresses the intensity of the emotions her characters are feeling, her ability to create a world that is easy to see in your minds eye, her build of the characters themselves is an amazing. This is one of the reasons I am so enamored with her work.

You aren't just reading the scene, you are living it. You, the reader, become a part of the characters. Kristen Ashley's unusual talent to make the emotions of her characters so real you literally experience them like they are your own shines in this story. These are the reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars. My biggest problem is there are areas that ramble on a bit, interfering minutely with the flow of the story. There where a couple problems I ran into.
